Experimental science requires complex instrumentation. A careful design, specifically tailored to the needs of a project, and the construction of the different components that constitute telescopes, cameras and any scinentific instrument, are thus essential.
ICCUB researchers and engineers hold fifteen years of experience developing instrumentation for high energy physics, astrophysics and space projects, and they have made important contributions in international collaborations such as LHCb and CTA. Recently, ICCUB's instrumentation capabilities are also being applied in other fields, such as medical imaging.
Their fields of expertise are front-end electronics, read-out and real-time processing systems, application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and signal processing algorithms/tools.
