Asbtract: This thesis is devoted to the study of radiation in generic conformal field theories in four dimensions. Firstly, we explain the implications of considering accelerated probes coupled to conformal scalar fields: the radiative energy density is not positive definite, the radiated power is not Lorentz invariant and the appearance of terms proportional to the derivative of the acceleration. Secondly, we focus on the determination of the coupling dependence of radiation for probes coupled to superconformal field theories. Using supersymmetric localization techniques, the computations we perform are matrix models computations. For N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory we find an exact expression for the circular Wilson loop valid for arbitrary gauge groups and different representations, thus unifying known results. For N = 2 superconformal quiver theories we find that the problem can be described as a multi-matrix model involving an infinite sum of single- and double-trace terms. The expressions for the partition function and the expectation value of the Wilson loop have a nice interpretation in terms of tree graphs and each of these graphs can be interpreted as a generalized Ising model. Finally, we argue that every matrix model with double-trace terms in the potential can be described in the planar limit as a sum over tree graphs.
