Abstract: Dr. Ben Panter is the founder and CEO of BlackfordAnalysis https://blackfordanalysis.com/ a leading player at the forefront of AI research and development. Ben worked with Raul Jimenez on his PhD that then led to a successful career in astrophysics (he is one of the originators of the algorithm that applied MOPED to synthetic stellar populations). He then moved into applying his research skill to the private research sector by founding Blackford Analysis, which is now a leader in the AI sector with over 100 employees and offices in the US and Europe. Their recent collaboration and arms-length acquisition by Bayer assures them a continuing leading role. Ben is one of the most successful cases of transitioning from astronomy to private based research. In this talk Ben will tell us about the transition, and the research that Blackford Analysis carries on the AI front.
