Abstract: The Carroll symmetry arises in the limit of vanishing speed of light, in which the Poincaré algebra is contracted to the Carroll algebra. In this talk, I will review the Carroll limits for the bosonic string. The talk will start with a brief revision of the non-relativistic sector of the bosonic string theory known as the Gomis-Ooguri model. Then, I will review some ways of taking Carroll limits for the Polyakov action to have a non-trivial spectrum. The Carroll limits are carried out on the target space, keeping the string worldsheet relativistic.
