Abstract: The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is a multinational endeavour to build the most sensitive radio telescope ever constructed. The science verification stage of the SKA is scheduled to start in 2027 while the planning and proposing of key science projects will be conducted between 2027–2029. Cradle of Life is one of the key science goals of the SKA. It is expected to enable the observations of the earliest stages of planet formation, searches for prebiotic molecules, detections of magnetic fields around exoplanets, and conduct the most stringent searches for technologically advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. The Cradle of Life Science Working Group (SWG) currently has over 50 members spanning 12 countries, with Spain being one of the major representatives accounting for over 15% of the membership. Given the fast-approaching timeline of the SKA, it is now a good moment to review the status of the telescope and discuss how the Cradle of Life community could maximize the science return using the SKA and its pathfinders.
