Ingeneral, the ultraviolet completion of Einstein gravity requires theintroduction of new degrees of freedom. We analyze the phenomenology of thesenew particles as dark matter candidates. In particular, we study the minimalhigh energy modification of the Einstein-Hilbert action, that is defined by theonly addition of a term proportional to the square of the scalar curvature.
