Grid Computing "the combination of computer resources from multiple administrative domains applied to a common task, usually to a scientific, technical or business problem that requires a great number of computer processing cycles or the need to process large amounts of data" has evolved during the last year.The processing of the large amounts of data to be produced by LHC Detectors was found to be possible only by making use of these techniques.DIRAC, Distributed Infrastructure with Remote Agent Control, is the LHCb solution to manage all its distributed computing activities. With over 500 physicists, over 500 TB of raw detector data produced every year, and computing resources in more than 100 different centers, LHCb has develop a tool that could allow a small operation team to manage all the computing activities of the experiment. After some years of evolution, DIRAC is the adopted solution.DIRAC is able to manage in a single system all the LHCb detector data distribution, processing and selection activities, as well as all the Monte Carlo data and all user analysis activities. All these is achieved in a distributed environment with a mixture of Gridified and non-Gridified resources, and providing the necessary failover and redundancy mechanisms to obtain the best performance and efficiency of an intrinsically unstable infrastructure.From the very beginning, LHCb was considered by the DIRAC team as justone case of a distributed user community willing to manage its computing activities on distributed resources. DIRAC has been fulfilling LHCb computing requirements for years. Now, the team is approaching other communities to offer DIRAC as a solution to simplify their interaction with the complex world of Grid computing.
