Abstract: Characterizing the full spectrum of dwarf galaxies down to the ultra-faint dwarf regime is crucial to understanding the formation of galaxies at early times and star formation in the low-mass limit. By expanding the underlying potential of Auriga Milky Way-mass galaxies using time-evolving basis function expansions (BFEs), we are able to faithfully reproduce particle orbits. These BFEs allow for inexpensive computation of gravitational forces, allowing us to simulate the infall and tidal stripping of satellite galaxies at higher resolution and with much more model flexibility than full hydrodynamical simulations allow. In this talk, I will introduce these simulation techniques and give an overview of future work that will become possible with this framework.
