Abstract: With the advent of recent telescopes and surveys, we have entered the era of high-precision Cosmology. The analysis of this increasing amount of data has consolidated the existence of cosmological tensions and anomalies in the standard cosmological model, the LCDM. Despite its ability to explain a wide range of observations, some of the LCDM parameters, such as the Hubble constant, are found to be in significant statistical tension if inferred from observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background or other independent probes in the late universe. In this talk, I will review some model-independent approaches that one can leverage in combination with state-of-art data at low-redshifts to reconstruct the expansion history of the universe for independently testing its homogeneity at large scales and calibrating the cosmic distance ladders, which play a major role in the Hubble tension. Moreover, I will show that different data on Baryon Acoustic Oscillations lead to completely different results when studying the late-time phenomenology required to solve the Hubble crisis and that these data are actually found to be in non-negligible tension between each other. With that in mind, I will emphasize the importance of standard candles, rulers and clocks in our universe and how we can utilize them in the upcoming era of high-quality and high-volume data to shed light on the current cosmological tensions.
