Light quark physics and lattice QCD

One of the fundamental task of lattice QCD is to provide a determination of the Standard Model free parameters, particularly in the quark flavor sector. In this talk, I will review the lattice calculations of light quark masses (mu, md, ms) and of the hadronic parameters (fk/fpi, f+(0)) relevant for the determination of the CKM matrix elements Vus and Vud and for the first row unitarity test. At the present level of accuracy in flavor physics, both QCD and QED isospin breaking corrections must be also taken into account in the phenomenological analyses. I then illustrate the strategies for a lattice QCD determination of these corrections and present the first numerical results.
