Abstract: We explore how data from low-energy nuclear physics can impact the properties of neutron stars, such as mass, radius, and deformability, in the absence of phase transitions in dense matter. We use different nuclear interactions to analyze how they describe the ground state binding energies, charge radii, and giant monopole resonances of a set of spherical nuclei and use these results to estimate the symmetry energy of nuclear matter. These estimates help us predict the properties of neutron stars, but we find that the predominant uncertainty still lies in the density dependence of the equations used, which remains unknown for extremely high densities.
