Motivated by the recent developments and interest in the emergence of a non equilibrium steady state for a relativistic fluid and its possible holographic dual, I will present a similar framework to study the properties of such a state for a non-relativistic Lifshitz fluid with a general scaling exponent. Our results show that the energy flow can be transported via shock or rarefaction waves. I will outline the admissibility and entropy conditions for their formation, and discuss the similarities with a compressible Euler fluid.
