Phase transitions in supersymmetric gauge theories

In gauge theories with a sufficient amount of supersymmetry, the partition function (as well as simple observables like expectation values of simple Wilson loops) can be computed exactly. When coupled to massive matter, these theories seem to exhibit large $N$ phase transitions. The phenomenon seems to be generic, occurring in many different cases, including 4d $U(N)$ theories with different matter content or even 3d examples such as Chern-Simons theory coupled to massive matter. The exact formulas also permit the calculation (for the first time in 4d) of the full OPE expansion with exact coeffcients.
