The Herschel space observatory has provided for the firsttime observations in the far-IR window, unaccessible for ground-based observatories. Its photometric and spectroscopic instruments have uncovered many new insights into the different star formation processes in the Galaxy. In this opportunity I will present Herschel data obtained with the PACS and SPIRE instruments during the telescope's science demonstration phase. After a brief introduction on the Herschel space observatory and its instruments, I will focus on the two Galactic HII regions Sh2-104 and RWC 120. These regions show signs of triggered star formation, and are excellent laboratories toinvestigate star formation occurring simultaneously at differentevolutionary stages. In particular, I will present a photometric study on the dust content of the two regions showing an anti-correlation between the dust temperature and the dust emissivity index. Also, I will discuss our preliminary spectroscopic analysis of Sh2-104, determining gas temperatures and column densities.
