Abstract: Built in the 1980s, the Kamioka Nucleon Decay Experiment (KamiokaNDE) was originally designed to explore proton decay signatures, however, it was swiftly adapted for the study of neutrinos. Fortunately, in 1987, a nearby supernova exploded, marking the start of experimental neutrino astrophysics and earning KamiokaNDE the first Nobel Prize in 2002. This success paved the way for the construction of Super-Kamiokande, leading to a second Nobel Prize in 2015 for the groundbreaking discovery of neutrino oscillations. Today, the Kamiokande legacy continues to thrive through the T2K, Super-Kamiokande, and the upcoming Hyper-Kamiokande (set to begin in 2027) experiments. In the seminar I will outline the status, plans and the most recent results of these experiments, focussing on their neutrino oscillations and astrophysics programs.
