Presentation of the Year Assumpció Català i Poch
The presentation ceremony of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Assumpció Català i Poch, a Catalan astronomer and the first woman to obtain a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Barcelona, will take place next February 26.
The event, which is set to begin at 5:30PM in Room 111 (Joan Maragall) of the UB Historical Building, is organized jointly by the institut Català de les Dones (ICD), the Montsec Astronomical Park and the University of Barcelona.
The event will be chaired by Ms. Sònia Guerra López, president of the ICD; by Mr. Carles Ruiz Novella, president of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat; and by Dr. Montserrat Puig Llobet, Vice-Chancellor of Equality, Inclusion and Gender at the University of Barcelona and it will have a conference on the figure of Maria Assumpció Català i Poch, by Dr. Francesca Figueras Siñol of the Department of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics of the University of Barcelona and of the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona; of a testimony by Dr. Trinitat Cadefau Surroca, thesis student of Dr. Català i Poch; and an intervention by a family member, Mr. Ramon Català Pou.

The event will commence at 5:30 PM in Room 111 (Joan Maragall) of the UB Historical Building. It is jointly organized by the Institut Català de les Dones (ICD), the Montsec Astronomical Park, and the University of Barcelona.
Presiding over the ceremony will be Ms. Sònia Guerra López, President of the ICD; Mr. Carles Ruiz Novella, President of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat; and Dr. Montserrat Puig Llobet, Vice-Chancellor of Equality, Inclusion, and Gender at the University of Barcelona. The event will feature a lecture on Maria Assumpció Català i Poch by Dr. Francesca Figueras Siñol from the Department of Quantum Physics and Astrophysics and the Institute of Cosmos Sciences at the University of Barcelona. Additionally, there will be a testimony from Dr. Trinitat Cadefau Surroca, a former doctoral student of Dr. Català i Poch, and an address by a family member, Mr. Ramon Català Pou.
