Renormalization Group and Fixed Points in QFT

Date

Facultat de Fisica, Aula V12M
Outline
The purpose of this short course is to introduce a powerful way to think about QFTs. This conceptual framework is Wilson's version of the renormalization group. The discussion begins with the simplest theories of scalar fields and then tackles gauge theories. Finally theories with supersymmetry are briefly considered. The emphasis will be on introducing the ideas in the simplest way as possible without any complicated calculations.

References
The lectures will roughly follow an updated version of Tim's lectures on http://arxiv.org/abs/arXiv:0909.0859
Prior to the course it is advisable that the students read the first lecture of the notes and that they review how to calculate a one-loop Feynman diagram.
