We will discuss aspects of effective field theories with extended space-time symmetries. Soft limits provide a first handle on such theories, after which we will outline a classification of the possible space-time symmetries with broken generators and Goldstone modes. Examples include DBI scalar field theory and the special Galileon. A similar classification for fermions will be discussed. Finally, we will discuss the strong coupling scales and possible UV completion of EFTs with extended shift symmetries that are important for massive higher spin theory, again with an eye towards fermions.
