Wilson Loops are among the fundamental operators in any gauge theory, their applicability range from the study of confinement to the infrared singularities of scattering amplitudes. In this talk we will discuss the role of the Wilson Loop in recent developments in high energy physics and how the study of this operator allows us to exactly characterize the radiation of a probe particle while developing new techniques that allow us to obtain the Free Energy of a large class of theories.
