Spectral line surveys have always had a special status among astronomical observations. They are extremely useful as road map to researchers studying other sources, often lead to surprise discoveries, they are of great legacy value, and they allow a very detailed modeling of the physical and chemical source structure. Due to the unprecedented sensitivity of current instrumentation, in particular ALMA, data from many sources will contain a multitude of lines that analyzed properly provide constraints to the structure of the sources. However, and to be practically feasible, this analysis has to be largely automated, at least to the point were the scientific potential of the data is clearly assessable. The first steps are automatic line identification, and a first determination of physical quantities such as rotation temperatures or column densities using the LTE approximation. In the framework of the German ARC node, we have developed a package called XCLASS (eXtended CASA Line Analysis Software Suite) which provides this functionality within CASA. In this tutorial I will briefly present XCLASS and run some simple examples on how to use it.
