Claudia González-Boquera, a former PhD student of the Hadronic, Nuclear and Atomic Physics research group at the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the University of Barcelona (ICCUB) has been awarded a Doctoral Thesis Award by the Grupo Especializado de Física Nuclear of the Real Sociedad Española de Física in collaboration with the company ATI Sistemas.

This award selects the best three theses on Nuclear Physics defended in Spanish Universities or Research Centres between 2018 and 2020.

Claudia did her doctorate on the properties of neutron-rich matter in nuclei and neutron stars under the supervision of professors Xavier Viñas and Mario Centelles (ICCUB). The award evaluating committee highlights the quality of the researcher’s work "where she applies the nuclear matter equation of state to finite nuclei and neutron stars in order to predict several properties of these compact stars.

The award ceremony will take place during the XXXVIII GEFN Symposium (July 11 – 15, 2022) in Murcia, Spain.

We want to offer our warmest congratulations to Claudia and the Hadronic, Nuclear and Atomic Physics research group for their excellent work!
