We are pleased to inform you that the proposal to construct two giant figures for the Montsec Astronomical Park has been selected for voting in the participatory budgeting of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC). This initiative, presented by the Cappont Cultural Collective of Lleida, proposes the creation of a giant figure in honor of M. Assumpció Català and another in honor of Joan Oró, promoter of the Astronomical Park.

The Montsec Astronomical Park, focused on scientific dissemination, carries out various activities such as the Astronomy Festival, which combines cultural and scientific activities. Currently, the Park has a big-headed figure named Bòlid, but it is believed that popular culture could help spread astronomy and the Park's activities.

The proposal includes the creation of two giant figures dedicated to scientists linked to the Park: Dr. Assumpció Català, the first permanent astronomy professor in Spain, and Dr. Joan Oró, a great promoter of the Park. The year 2023 was the Year of Oró, and 2025 will be the Year of Català, declared by the Government.

It is planned to commission the manufacture of the figures to a master giant maker from Catalonia, with the size of a giant to facilitate their use and transport. The Cappont Cultural Collective of Lleida will advise throughout the process and help spread their existence.

This proposal is made within the Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Assumpció Català, declared by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
