My main focus is the research on the physics of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. In these collisions we study the quark-gluon plasma, a state of matter that was present in the very early universe in which quarks are not confined within hadrons. I work in the study of high energetic probes (as heavy quarkonium or jets) that provide information about this new state of matter. This topic is interesting in itself and, furthermore, it provides insights into the early universe, the core of neutron stars and the nature of confinement. My favorite tools to study these phenomena are Effective Field Theories and the formalism of Open Quantum Systems. Applying both, I aim to understand to which features of the medium the high energy probes are sensitive to and to encode this information in well-defined field theoretical quantities that can be computed using non-perturbative techniques, as for example lattice QCD.
