I am a second-year PhD student at the ICCUB (Institute of Cosmos Sciences, University of Barcelona) under the supervision of Prof. Roberto Emparan. I work on quantum and stringy properties of black holes. My PhD is funded by a 2024 “la Caixa” Foundation Doctoral INPhINIT Incoming Fellowship.

My current research focuses on quantum properties of near-extremal (i.e., low-temperature) black holes. It has recently been understood that the near-horizon geometry of such black holes undergoes large quantum fluctuations even when the black hole is macroscopic. In joint work with Prof. Emparan, we showed that these quantum gravity effects can render near-extremal black holes completely transparent to incoming electromagnetic and gravitational waves. I am currently studying other physical properties of these quantum black holes, including decoherence and Love numbers. Other projects (ongoing or completed) involve quantum entanglement, the fluid/gravity correspondence, and the black hole–string correspondence.
